David Danjul, 19, began playing the piano at the age of four. He is currently studying piano performance with Jeanne Kierman Fischer at the Shepherd school of music while also pursuing a business minor.
Recently, he was a finalist in the 2018 Shepherd School Concerto Competition and won 1st Place in the 2015 Juanita Miller Concerto Competition. He has also earned top prizes from the Collin County Young Artist Competition, the Texas Music Teachers Association Piano State Competitions, the Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition, and the McKinney Young Artist Competition. David has participated in summer camps throughout Texas including the Texas State International Piano Festival and the Southern Methodist University Institute for Young Pianists.
Currently the Ensemble Director of MusicMDs, David organizes members into ensembles and sets up rehearsal times and locations, and also plays therapeutic music for individual patients at the Houston Methodist Hospital. He is also treasurer and co-founder of the Verreaux Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings high quality chamber music to The Woodlands and the greater Houston community and provides artistic and administrative opportunities to Shepherd School students.
At Rice, David was awarded a Richter Grant for his work integrating the Shepherd School into the broader Rice campus. David also set up an Indiegogo campaign for the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Musical Angels, to improve the lives of hospitalized children through music.
